Peekskill student, teacher get into heated political debatePosted: Updated:
A YouTube video of a politically charged conversation between a Peekskill High School student and his teacher is approaching 1 million views.
The two take very different stances on hot political and cultural topics, such as Black Lives Matter, terror acts and mass shootings.
The teacher appears to be stating her opinions, calling the student a "radical and conservative person" and someone who believes in white supremacy.
The student denied supporting white supremacy, and at one point reads her the Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of terrorism.
Many comments online have criticized the teacher. The teacher told News 12 off camera that she feels violated because the conversation was recorded without her knowing.
Students in Peekskill have different opinions on the video.
"I think it's alright for a student to express his feelings but if it got where the video was, arguing should stop," said Kyle Moran.
A school spokesperson says the district is investigating the incident. It's unclear if the student or teacher will be disciplined.
News 12 emailed the student who said he's not able to comment about the video.
