Cab driver dies after hit in head with hockey stick; man charged

A man has been charged in the death of a Hudson County man who was hit in the head with a hockey stick while working as a cab driver in New York City, the New York Police Department said.
Police said Randolph Tolk, 68, of West New York, was driving a livery cab late Saturday night in Manhattan along 11th Avenue and West 20th Street.
Authorities said Tolk got into a fight with a pedestrian in his 30s, and Tolk was hit in the head with the hockey stick.
Tolk crashed his cab a short time later and died at a hospital, police said.
"It's very sad to see a driver at that age working that late at night and being assaulted by a young man,” said Fernando Mateo, of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers.
The NYPD said Kohji Kosugi has been charged with manslaughter in connection with Tolk’s death.
An autopsy will be performed to determine whether Tolk died from the attack or the car crash, officials said.
