Police: Officer hurt when minivan runs stop sign, hits cruiser

Bridgeport police say a patrol officer was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after his cruiser was struck by a minivan.
Investigators say the police car was totaled in the crash, which happened at Barnum Avenue and Hallett Street around 4 a.m.
Officials say the driver of the minivan ran a stop sign. The driver was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
They say the driver of the minivan was cited for failing to stop.
Police say the number of people running stop signs is on the rise.
