NEW CITY -

Snow school began Monday for Rockland Highway Department employees.

The two-day refresher course aims to prepare county and town employees on the equipment and techniques for snow removal.

Rockland County has a fleet of more than two dozen trucks ready for whatever winter brings.

"There are times where the storms get so heavy that we may just focus on our main roads. But no time have we ever closed our county roads. We plan to keep it that way," says Rockland County Highway Superintendent Skip Vezzetti.

Employees were able to take the snowplows out on the routes for a test drive to see if there were any issues.
