Police: Mother attacked on subway in front of kids near Hunts Point Station

A woman was attacked in front of her children by a man on the 6 train near Hunts Point Station, police say.
The incident happened Thursday aboard the train as it approached the Hunts Point Station around 7:30 p.m.
Ramell Jefferson, 58, was arrested and is facing multiple charges including, assault, endangering the welfare of a child, menacing and harassment. 
Jefferson is accused of punching and shoving a 29-year-old woman into the subway bench in front of her three kids, according to police.
Jefferson first threatened the mother with a glass bottle but things escalated.
Cellphone video shot by a commuter shows subway riders kicking and punching Jefferson until police arrived to arrest him.
Police say Jefferson may have been intoxicated at the time of the incident.
