Westchester's largest city is focusing on clean energy and going green.
Solar and wind-powered lights have been installed at the JFK Marina in Yonkers as part of a $400,000 energy initiative.
The city says it is also adding five hybrid vehicles to the municipal fleet.
The mayor of Yonkers says the new improvements will save residents money.
"Our initiatives have saved taxpayers over $250,000 in energy costs annually, over $2 million total. We've also reduced our carbon footprint by 12,000 tons. That's equivalent to the energy equivalent of 117 homes," says Mayor Mike Spano.
The projects are part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Five Cities Energy Plan.
