Dozens of families at Westchester County Family Court put their pen to paper to make their adoptions official Friday to mark National Adoption Day.
Debra Hogue, of Yonkers, officially adopted her three grandchildren at the White Plains court.
"I had took them in as temporary…I always treat them like my own," she said.
It was also a happy day for the Olt family from New Rochelle. Nadja, 23, decided after six years that she wanted to take the last name of her step-dad.
"Now it's just official. I think it's going to be funny writing my name on paper now and having his last name," she said.
A same-sex couple from Scarsdale was also on hand to adopt 4-month-old Rigby.
"This is just the next layer of our family to make sure we're together forever," said Tawnie Baranica.
