WALLKILL -

A mall Santa comforted children Sunday during the gunfire incident at the Galleria Mall at Crystal Run that scared many holiday shoppers.

In a picture captured by a shopper, “Santa” is seen comforting scared children in the Galleria parking lot.

"That's a good Santa. Cause that's what Christmas should be all about. It's not about toys and gifts and all that. It should be about people doing things for other people," says Laurie Rementer, of Middletown.

After word got out about Santa's good deed, a nearby Holiday Inn that he was staying at gave him a free continental breakfast.
