Family donates 60 bicycles to foster children in Rockland

Posted: Updated:

A Pearl River family is taking the pain of their loss and turning it into joy for dozens of other families.

The Chance Cosgrove Foundation has donated 60 bicycles to foster children in Rockland County just in time for Christmas.

The foundation was formed by the friends and family of Chance Cosgrove after his tragic death at the age of 12 in 2009.  The group’s idea was to keep Chance’s memory alive by supporting programs that Cosgrove had been involved in. "It's so heartfelt that they're still trying to give back all this time later. It's going to help a lot of kids. I believe there are over 100 kids in care right now between kinship, direct custody, and foster care," Erin Coyle, of the Foster & Adoptive Parents of Rockland County.

Modell's Sporting Goods also donated 60 brand new helmets for the bicycles.
