A hit-and-run driver seriously injured a New City pedestrian Tuesday evening.

Clarkstown police say a dark-colored SUV slammed into a 40-year-old man walking on Route 304 and Third Street around 10:30 p.m. The SUV left the scene heading southbound on Route 304.

They say the victim sustained extensive serious injuries and was transported to the Nyack Hospital emergency room for medical attention.

Just one day earlier, an 86-year-old woman was killed in a two-car crash on the same stretch.
