Dozens brave -7 temperatures to take Polar Plunge in RyePosted: Updated:
Dozens of brave people jumped into the Long Island Sound Monday to help people with disabilities.
The 16th annual "Polar Plunge" was held at Oakland Beach in Rye despite temperatures that were around -7 degrees.
Organizers say they are thankful for everyone who came out to help. "The support here really makes me proud. As cold as it is, there's more warmth here," says organizer Philip Gormley.
The event benefits four local organizations including one that that helps people with ALS.
