Heat hotline helps Yonkers stay warm during frigid weather

Posted: Updated:
YONKERS -

There is help to keep you warm during this frigid weather.

The Yonkers city's heat emergency hotline is up and running.

Officials say if your apartment isn't as warm as it should be at this time, you can call in the problem.

Under the law, when it's cold outside, landlords must make sure the heat is turned up to at least 68 degrees during the day and 64 degrees overnight.

City officials say they will address the issue on your behalf. Landlords could face fines or litigation if they violate the heat ordinance.

The hotline is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The number is (914) 965-3331.
