Ex- New Rochelle officer sentenced in fatal drunken driving accident
A former New Rochelle police officer was sentenced Friday to 2 ½ to 7 years in a state prison after a drunken driving accident that killed his best friend.
As News 12 previously reported, Harry Kyreakedes, 28, was off duty when police say he crashed the car into a tree off Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, killing his passenger and friend, 27-year-old Isaac Ward.
Police say Kyreakedes’ blood alcohol level was .18 at the time.
Kyreakedes broke down in tears at Westchester County Court while apologizing to the victim’s mother, saying he’d serve 50 years if it would give their family peace.
News 12 is told Kyreakedes has 30 days to appeal the decision.
