Car gets stuck in ice in Yonkers

YONKERS -

One unlucky driver in Yonkers will have to wait until it gets much warmer before she drives her car again.

Lauren Cokley says she thought she had found a parking spot on Saturday on Warburton Avenue, but when she pulled into it, she found it was a sheet of ice.  The weight of the car broke through the ice, stranding the car.

Turns out a leak from a nearby property formed a giant pool of water on the road that was frozen by the arctic temperatures this weekend.

Cokley says that trying to pull the car out with a tow truck would only cause more damage to her car, so all she can do now is wait. “Days later you just have to laugh at it. I can’t really get upset anymore. I have been so upset but it is what it is. Mother Nature.”
