Thruway Authority announces 3-week cashless tolling amnesty programPosted: Updated:
The New York Thruway Authority announced a three-week amnesty program to help drivers with issues since cashless tolling was put into effect.
The amnesty program includes updated signage outlining payment options, enhanced toll bills and envelopes detailing how to avoid fines. As for amnesty, drivers must pay all outstanding toll balances by the end of February. The amnesty will then be applied to fines issued between April 24 of last year through the end of January.
The Thruway Authority also encourages drivers to set up an E-ZPass account to avoid having to pay tolls by mail.
The program is for passenger vehicles who don't use E-ZPass, not commercial vehicles. The Thruway Authority will mail out a letter to drivers by early February with instructions on how to receive amnesty.
