The 16-year-old accused of stabbing a classmate to death in New Rochelle last week was in court Wednesday.
Z'Inah Brown's appearance lasted only minutes before a judge waived the case to a grand jury.
Meanwhile, dozens gathered outside court in a prayer circle to show their support for Brown.
Brown is facing a second-degree murder charge in the stabbing death of New Rochelle teen Valeree Schwab.
Brown's aunt said last week's argument at the Dunkin' Donuts between her niece and Schwab that turned into a fatal stabbing was an accident.
The victim's father and a few other relatives who were at the courthouse declined to speak on camera with News 12.
Brown is expected to appear before a grand jury within the next few months.
