Mohegan Lake couple demand reimbursement for fire damage repair

A Mohegan Lake couple has waited almost a year to see progress on the reconstruction of their townhome that was destroyed in a fire.
Tracy and Franco Policicchio's town home in the Villas on the Lake community caught fire last February.
Since then, not much has been done by the community's association board or property management company, the couple says.
The Policicchios say that after the association's insurance paid on the claim, little work has been done to repair their home.
Franco tells News 12 he grew tired of waiting and took matters into his own hands.
"I did it in about two months and two weeks, whereas it took them nine months to just lift a hammer to begin working on my home," he said.
Franco says the repairs are costing tens of thousands of dollars.
Shortly after News 12 called the board for comment, the Policicchios said they finally began seeing some of the insurance money allotted for the repair. However, they say several projects still remain incomplete and they are still waiting on reimbursement for the repair money that came out of their own pockets.
"They tried to profit from our tragedy," said Franco. "They stepped in and said, 'Oh, I'm here to help.' They're not helping."
Exclusive Management tells News 12 that everything is being taken care of.
