Police: Thief breaks into home, steals car in Bridgeport

Police are searching for a thief who broke into a woman's apartment and stole her car in Bridgeport.
Bianca Monroe says she woke up around 3 a.m. Saturday and heard someone in her apartment, located on the 10th floor of the building. She says she was terrified and didn't move for 20 minutes until she heard the sound of the person leaving.
"I feel violated. I'm like a sitting duck," Monroe says. "I have a barricade against my door because it's so upsetting."
She says she didn't think anything was missing, but eventually realized her keys were gone.
Monroe says her 2002 Isuzu Axiom, which had been parked by the side of her apartment building on Huntington Turnpike, was stolen. She says the incident has left her feeling unsafe in her home and that the landlord has not yet replaced her locks.
Bridgeport police say they are checking surveillance video from the property and feel confident they will find Monroe's vehicle. They say if anyone experiences a situation like this, to call 911 immediately.
