JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say an unlicensed driver was behind the wheel of a car that crashed in Jersey City, killing a backseat passenger.
Hudson County prosecutors say 27-year-old city resident Khadija Hamilton turned herself in on Sunday, one day after the crash occurred. She was accompanied by her attorney, who didn't comment on the case.

Hamilton is charged with death by auto, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and driving unlicensed and causing death
The crash was reported around 3 a.m. Saturday, and officers soon found 24-year-old Khalla Nguyen in the vehicle with "apparent injuries from the crash." She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Prosecutors say Hamilton fled the scene after the car struck a metal guardrail.
“Well, at least she turned herself in for that. Still someone lost her life. I feel for her too because that was her friend. She didn't mean to do it. Things happen. It's sad, very sad,” said Brenda Jackson, a friend of Nguyen's family.
No other injuries related to the crash have been reported.
