Officials: 4 injured on Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge

Officials say that four people were hospitalized Wednesday as a result of crashes on the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
They say one woman was driving on the northbound side of the span when she got into a minor accident. Officials say that the woman got out of her car and was hit by a tractor-trailer. They say she was pinned between her car and the guardrail.
The incident created a domino effect, and resulted in at last two dozen vehicles colliding in the aftermath.  The concrete barrier was also pushed into the southbound lanes, which caused more accidents.
Both sides of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge were shut down for about two hours. Several lanes remained closed as crews made repairs to the concrete barrier that was damaged.
First responders say drivers who are involved in an accident should try not to get out of their vehicle and should wait for police to arrive.
