Police nab New City bank robbersPosted: Updated:
Police arrested two alleged bank robbers and their getaway driver Friday, police say.
Two gunmen held up the Key Bank on South Little Tor Road in New City around 2 p.m., according to authorities. They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a 2006 Infiniti driven by a female accomplice -- but a Clarkstown police officer pulled them over down the street.
"We believe we have everyone that was involved in that robbery," says Clarkstown Chief of Police Raymond McCullagh. "And at this time, we are not looking for any other suspects."
McCullagh praised his officers.
"It's also unusual to get an arrest so quickly after a bank robbery," the chief says. "It was a good ending today."
Federal prosecutors are now handling the case. They have not released the suspects' identities.
