Cheddar weekend business report for Feb. 11

All eyes will be on the markets Monday after a roller coaster week on Wall Street. It began with the January jobs report, and saw two 1,000-point drops for the Dow. Some investors are concerned about rising interest rates and inflation.

Uber is settling with Waymo. The ride-handling giant will pay Alphabet's self-driving unit about $245 million to conclude the legal drama. Waymo sued Uber over accusations is stole trade secrets in developing its autonomous vehicles.

Uber's CEO released a statement, saying, "While I cannot erase the past, I can commit on behalf of every Uber employee that we will learn from it and it will inform our actions going forward."

Online dating is getting political. Melissa Hobley, the chief marketing officer of OkCupid, told Cheddar it is currently an unprecedented time in terms of the role politics plays in dating. The company added 14 new political questions to its dating profile questionnaire, allowing people to find like-minded matches.
