Connecticut joins multi-state coalition to combat gun violence

<p>Gov. Dannel Malloy, as well as Gov. Phil Murphy, of New Jersey, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, of New York, and Gov. Gina Raimondo, of Rhode Island, announced today the formation of the new &quot;States for Gun Safety&quot; coalition to combat gun violence.</p>

Gov. Dannel Malloy, as well as Gov. Phil Murphy, of New Jersey, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, of New York, and Gov. Gina Raimondo, of Rhode Island, announced today the formation of the new "States for Gun Safety" coalition to combat gun violence. 
The coalition will advance a multi-state effort in sharing information and stop the flow of out-of-state guns.
In a conference call earlier today, Gov. Malloy says, "We cannot sit back and let guns get into the hands of those who shouldn't have them."
All governors agreed it was a necessary step since the federal government has failed to act on gun control laws.
They plan to invited other state leaders to join the coalition
Gov. Malloy has already proposed this year to ban any type of enhancement that increases the rate of fire of a semiautomatic weapon, such as “bump stocks.”
