Highway and public works crews around Long Island spent yet another day making storm preparations Tuesday as forecasters warned of 10 inches or more of snow.
"Three nor'easters in two weeks, it's taken its toll," says Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. "Many of our residents live on the water, and they've been dealing with that. We've been out there making sure drains are clear."
"Tomorrow is going to be a long and arduous day," agrees Joseph Saladino, the town supervisor in Oyster Bay.
Wet, heavy snow could once again tear down power lines and trees, triggering power outages.
PSEG LI says it had crews running system checks Tuesday and has brought in additional contractors and tree crews.
Coastal flooding also remains a concern along both shores.
"We're bracing for it and hoping for the best," Carpenter says.
As News 12 has reported, conditions are supposed to be worst around the evening commute.
"If you get up in the morning and you see the road clear, that doesn't mean it's going to be a safe, easy day," says Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. "That evening commute coming home can be treacherous."
MacArthur Airport has already canceled some flights. Anyone planning to travel Wednesday is advised to check with their carrier before heading to the airport.
