Teen pleads not guilty to New Rochelle murder
Posted: Updated:The teenager accused of fatally stabbing her classmate at Dunkin' Donuts in New Rochelle pleaded not guilty in White Plains County Court Tuesday.
In front of friends and family, Z'Inah Brown, 17, said she is not guilty of murdering 16-year-old Valaree Schwab on North Avenue during school hours on Jan. 10.
Brown was recently indicted by a grand jury and entered a not guilty plea Tuesday to all charges, including murder, manslaughter, gang assault and stalking.
Two other teens have also been indicted in the case, and a fourth suspect has been charged as a juvenile.
Poice say the teens confronted Schwab along North Avenue before Brown stabbed Schwab twice in the torso with a steak knife.
Brown turned herself in to police the next day, and she's been held without bail at Westchester County Jail.
Brown's next court appearance will be later this month.
