MOUNT VERNON -

A Mount Vernon teenager is facing new charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly trying to kill his grandmother last fall.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Alquane Atkinson allegedly shot his grandmother after she kicked him out of the house. According to police, the bullet grazed his grandmother's leg.

Earlier that week, Atkinson allegedly assaulted a taxi driver during an attempted robbery.

Atkinson is due back in court on April 24. He is currently being held without bail at the county jail.
