NEWBURGH -

Two Newburgh Free Academy students are on the road to success.

Kameron King, 17, beat out dozens of submissions to win a Barnes and Noble "My Favorite Teacher Contest."

"All the life lessons, my dad didn't teach me -- Mr. Harvey taught me, so I just felt like, who is a better teacher than Mr. Harvey?" says King.

Angelica Ramirez, 15, was a runner-up for her 500-word essay about the teacher who helped her assimilate when she came to the U.S. "She was always supporting me the first year I came to this country. She's been an inspiration to me," says the freshman.

The essays will now advance to the regional competition for a chance to win a $10,000 prize.
