Sources tell News 12 Long Island that the remains found in Babylon Village yesterday are believed to be a man who went missing in late 2015.
The remains are believed to be 29-year-old Caesar Rivera. Suffolk police told News 12 Long Island earlier this week that they have been actively searching for Rivera’s body under the belief he was murdered by MS-13.
Skeletal remains were found Thursday after the Long Island Gang Task Force descended on a wooded area in Babylon Village. The remains were found off of Ralph Avenue, just north of Argyle Lake.
The area where the body was found is surrounded by homes, several schools, softball fields and a Village of Babylon parking lot.
The FBI issued a statement saying there is no reason to believe there is an imminent threat to anyone in this area of Babylon. The agency also said forensic testing would be needed to officially confirm the identity of the body since it's been here for such an extended period of time.
