YONKERS -

People along the Yonkers/Bronx border may have heard sirens today, but it was only a test.

Mount St. Vincent College held its semi-annual ‘shelter in place’ drill this afternoon.

During the drill, a siren sent out nine blasts, which were heard throughout the neighborhood, particularly the southern end of Yonkers near the Bronx border. In case of an actual emergency, the sirens are to alert everyone on campus to obtain shelter.

The drill began at around 1:20 p.m.
