Shots ring out in OssiningPosted: Updated:
Ossining police are on the hunt for the person, or people, who fired shots Tuesday night in the village.
Authorities say the shots rang out about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of James and State streets. Police say it doesn't appear anyone was injured, but they did recover five shell casings at the scene.
The police chief says the difficulty in solving crimes like this is it's hard to get the neighbors to talk about it. "One of our major concerns is that we're not getting a lot of information from people in the community. We know that that if a gunshot rang out and if one person heard it, than other people likely heard or saw what happened," says Ossining Police Chief Kevin Sylvester.
Sylvester says even though no one was injured, they are taking this case seriously because it's illegal to fire guns in the village.
