Students from across the Hudson Valley are gaining the tools they need to snag a construction job today.

Over 700 high school students from school districts throughout the region are attending the 19th Annual Construction Career Day at Rockland County Community College.

Students are getting the opportunity to meet and talk to workers in the building and construction industry and get hands-on tips on many crucial trades. Students will also receive information about apprenticeships, different career paths, and, of course, the type of salaries and benefits these jobs offer.

Trade unions say that the region is expected to see a shortage of workers in the next five years to perform commercial construction and public works projects.
