Police: Ex-Rockland student found with arsenal after threatening calls

UPPER NYACK -

Authorities in Rockland County and Long Island say a potential tragedy was averted after a former student who allegedly made threatening calls to an Upper Nyack school was found with a cache of illegal firearms.

Police arrested Robert Csak, a former student of the Summit School, after they say he left voicemails threatening a school security guard there Saturday. Police on Long Island then say they discovered an arsenal of weapons in Csak's Lindenhurst home the very same day.

Inside the pizza deliveryman's apartment were a mattress, plastic furniture and 19 firearms, along with several hundred high-capacity magazines, a silencer and a bump stock like the kind used by the gunman in last year's Las Vegas mass shooting.

Police say Csak's motive could have been carrying a grudge stemming from a 2002 encounter.

The Summit School is located in a residential area of Upper Nyack, right along the Hudson Valley and across from an elementary school with about 200 students.

Clarkstown police say they traced the voicemails to Csak, and then alerted authorities on Long Island.

Csak was arraigned Monday on weapons offenses. The judge ordered Csak be held on $350,000 bail.

Csak's Long Island landlord said he was shocked to hear of the allegations.

Clarkstown police say that neither they nor school faculty felt that there was any direct threat to students or staff there.
