Cuomo stumps for Mayer as state Senate race hits final stretch

Gov. Andrew Cuomo joined Westchester County Executive George Latimer Sunday to stump for Shelley Mayer in the final stretch of a key state Senate race.
The governor, who endorsed Mayer last month, urged people to get out and vote.
"I've worked with Shelley for many years," Cuomo said. "She has the experience, she has the integrity, the qualification. There is no doubt person to person, Shelley Mayer is the best person to fill this seat."
Meanwhile, Mayer’s opponent, Julie Killian, was in White Plains with local law enforcement explaining what she will fight for if elected.
"Come out and vote for someone who's going to go up to Albany and make our community a better place,” Killian said. “Because we really are at a tipping point in New York with high taxes, terrible infrastructure and too much corruption.”
The 37th District seat could determine which party controls the chamber.
Voters will decide who fills the vacant seat on Tuesday.
