Police say skeletal remains discovered in Ocean County last month lead to murder charges Tuesday morning. 

They say Alan McGinnis has been charged with the murder of 20-year-old Cody MacPherson.

According to police, MacPherson's remains were found in the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area in Jackson. Wildlife services were doing a controlled burn at the time.   

MacPherson had been missing since September. 

Officials say McGinnis stabbed MacPherson in September and dumped his body. 

Authorities did not disclose a motive or a relationship between the men.
