South Norwalk chef competes, wins on Food Network’s ‘Chopped’

A south Norwalk chef competed and won on Tuesday night's episode of "Chopped" on the Food Network.
Matt Storch, owner of Match Restaurant in south Norwalk, Match Burger Lobster and Nom Eez, defeated three other contestants on the show.
Storch has been a chef for 25 years. He says his 7-year-old twin boys wanted him to be on the show, so he went through the interview process and got a call back.
"Connecticut rules, we want more recognition in Fairfield County for all the chefs out here for what we do,” he says. “So, it's good to be a part of that and bring some recognition here."
The show consists of three rounds, with contestants creating an appetizer, entree and dessert using mandatory ingredients. Tuesday night's challenge was to whip up sandwiches for all three rounds for a grand prize of $10,000.
Storch says friends and family gathered at Match Restaurant to cheer him on.

He tells News 12 it meant a lot getting to do what he loves on a national stage.
