The Ultimate Gift: Newtown man gets new heart

In this week's "Ultimate Gift" report, a Newtown man is celebrating a second chance at life.
Dan Krauss, of Newtown, was 30 years old when he was diagnosed with heart failure. Doctors say that a virus caused a condition that deteriorated Krauss’ heart. They implanted a pump to keep his heart going. However, it was a temporary fix.
Krauss tells News 12 that in 2016, things started to take a turn for the worse and he needed a donor heart.
Due to the severity of his case, he was placed towards the top of the donor wait list. Krauss had to wait eight months for a match.
Within 10 months of his operation, Krauss was skiing with his daughter.
