DOBBS FERRY -

A Marine who hadn’t seen his girlfriend since last year surprised her at her college graduation Tuesday.

Vanessa Batista thought her boyfriend, Cpl. Chris Varini, was in California on her graduation day from Mercy College.

Varini has to return California Wednesday to finish up his active duty, but it ends in August when he will come home for good.

He says his plans are to get a college degree of his own and one day to possibly become a police officer or a firefighter.

Varini’s parents say he is their miracle baby, as he was conceived after 14 miscarriages.
