Another truck hits overpass on Hutchinson River Parkway

MOUNT VERNON -

A truck slammed into an overpass on the Hutchinson River Parkway Monday morning, snarling traffic for hours near Mount Vernon -- marking the second such incident in less than a week on the busy road.

Police say it happened around 4:45 a.m. on the southbound lane near Exit 10.

The accident left one lane blocked until around 7:45 a.m., but traffic slowed in both directions.

Just days earlier, Westchester County Executive George Latimer called for action to keep trucks off of the parkways -- where commercial vehicles are already banned.

Police say the truck was carrying foam containers.
