Business Briefs: Disney, Airbnb, Yahoo Messenger

The magic is over for Disney's top creative animation executive. Josh Lasseter says he will leave Disney-Pixar at the end of the year to take on new creative challenges. According to Cheddar, Lasseter was accused of inappropriately hugging and touching subordinates, and has been on leave for six months.

Airbnb wants hosts to help in an emergency. The company's 'open homes' program allows hosts to offer up housing for people who need help after natural disasters. Airbnb is now updating the program for hosts to sign up before people need emergency assistance so disaster response is quicker. Since the launch of the program last year, the community has donated 17,000 nights to people in need.

Yahoo is saying goodbye to Messenger. Parent company Oath announced it will turn off the service on July 17 after 20 years. Yahoo Messenger was one of the first instant messaging platforms. The decision comes as Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Snapchat and others dominate the space.
