Ambulette service owner faces charges in connection to upstate nursing home

Posted: Updated:
SPRING VALLEY -

The owner of a Hudson Valley ambulette service is facing federal charges connected to a nursing home he ran upstate.

According to a federal complaint, Joseph Zupnik, who lives in Spring Valley, is charged with endangering the welfare of residents at Focus Rehab and Nursing Center in Otsego.

It's alleged he did so by cutting staff, services and supplies needed to provide proper care.

Zupnik's company, Focus Ventures LLC, also owns and operates EMStar Ambulette, which provides non-emergency medical transport services throughout the Hudson Valley.

That company is not named in the complaint.

News 12’s calls to Zupnik for comment has not been returned.
