A new study says access to affordable housing is getting more out of reach for low-income residents in the Hudson Valley.
In Westchester, fair market value to rent a two-bedroom apartment is nearly $1,700, while in Rockland it is almost at $1,800.
Advocacy group Center for Housing Solutions finds most working families aren't able to keep up with rising rent.
The study says 52 percent of people in Westchester County are "cost-burdened," meaning they're paying 50 percent of their income toward many necessities.
Alec Roberts, of Community Housing Innovations, says Westchester needs affordable housing more than anything.
"Research shows most of the economic growth in this area is taken up with housing cost and a lot of businesses won't locate here because of the lack of workforce housing," says Roberts.
