A day after a controversial moment marred his third-round U.S. Open performance, Phil Mickelson returned to Shinnecock Hills to wrap up his weekend on Long Island.
Mickelson received a two-shot penalty for hitting a ball that was still moving on the 13th hole Saturday, a bizarre move that received some backlash in the golf community.
He returned to that same hole Sunday in the final round and got the last laugh -- sinking his putt for par and sarcastically celebrating.
Mickelson didn't have much to say following his final round, "I had a good time. I played better. It was a good day."
He shot 1-under par Sunday, but finished 16-over for the weekend.
