Father's Day boxing and barbecue event held in Bed-Stuy

Residents in Bedford-Stuyvesant celebrated Father's Day on Sunday with boxing and barbecue.
The event was organized by the Bedford-Stuyvesant Gateway Business Improvement District and the NYPD.
A boxing ring was set up on the corner of Marcy Avenue and Fulton Street. The event showcased the talented young people being coached out of the new Bed-Stuy Boxing Center.
Organizers and supporters of the event say it's not just about teaching young people the discipline and art of boxing, but also to help them understand that they can use these skills outside of the ring.
The Bed-Stuy Boxing Center also offers tutoring and mentoring.
