Dangerously high temperatures bake Hudson Valley

Dangerously hot temperatures are baking the Hudson Valley today.
With highs expected around 100 degrees, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has issued an excessive heat warning, along with an air quality health advisory and ozone alert.
Experts say the extreme heat can cause sickness and heart problems, especially during outdoor activities or extended exposure, including being at the pool or beach. They say staying hydrated is important as well as using sunscreen and wearing loose fitting clothing and hats to avoid exposure to the sun.
Local utility companies are telling customers to draw their shades or blinds during the day, noting that 40 percent of unwanted heat comes through windows.
News 12 meteorologists say that there is a possibility of thunderstorms later in the evening. Tuesday is expected to have a high temperature around 88 degrees.
