Police: Middletown man arrest for sports bar shooting

Posted: Updated:
WALLKILL -

Police say they've arrested the gunman who opened fire outside an Orange County bar this spring.

Authorities say Elijah Underwood, 23, of Middletown, has been charged with attempted murder after he shot another man outside of JD's Sports Bar in Wallkill in April. The say the shooting happened during a giant brawl that involved more than a dozen people.

A stabbing in the bar’s parking lot a week later after the shooting prompted the state to investigate and temporarily suspend the bar's liquor license.

Underwood was remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bail or $600,000 bond.
