New American citizens were sworn in during a naturalization ceremony Thursday in White Plains.

At the county courthouse, 120 people from nearly 40 countries took the "Oath of Allegiance" to become naturalized citizens.

Dozens of family and friends watched proudly as their loved ones received their naturalization papers along with an American flag.

Software engineer Liyan Tang was born in China but has lived in America since she was 7.

"Basically American in a sense," she said. "Great that this process is finally over with."

The group of new naturalized Americans is becoming citizens just as the Trump administration is starting a new push to revoke the citizenship of people who committed crimes before becoming American citizens. There was a mixed reaction from the freshly minted citizens on the government's latest immigration crackdown.

The majority of the new citizens were born in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, India and Canada.
