The twin Camacho girls – once conjoined, then separated at Maria Fereri Children's Hospital in Valhalla – are making significant progress during their rehabilitation.
Bellanie and Ballanie were born joined at the tailbone, sharing a spinal cord and a major artery. It took a team of 50 doctors to perform a risky 21-hour surgery to separate them.
"We are very happy and very grateful," said Laurillin Celladilla, the twins’ mother.
Their parents say they plan on taking Bellanie and Ballanie back to their native Dominican Republic once they finish their rehabilitation in the United States.
