New York City man killed in New Jersey Turnpike crash

(AP) - A New York City man has died following a multivehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.
State police say 50-year-old Zhen Dong Wang, of Brooklyn, was a passenger in a pickup truck that was rear-ended around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday by a garbage truck in the southbound lanes of the highway in Carlstadt.
The impact pushed the pickup into a car and an SUV.
Wang was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup's driver, a 39-year-old Plainfield resident, was seriously injured and remained hospitalized Thursday.
Authorities say several other people were treated for minor injuries. But further details were not disclosed.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
