#N12BK: Shark attacks in New York

Authorities are warning the public to be cautious after they say two children were bitten in the waters off New York's Fire Island in possible shark attacks.
The incidents happened Wednesday afternoon and prompted beach closings in the area off Sailors Haven and Atlantique beaches.
The 13-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl both had leg wounds but appeared to be OK.
Shark sightings in the area are not uncommon. Scientists from Ocearch discovered a great white shark breeding ground off of Montauk two years ago.
Shark sightings have been reported at Coney Island, but, according to the Long Island Press, only seven shark attacks have been reported in New York state since 1670. However, the Florida Museum's International Shark Attack File says there have been 10 unprovoked shark attacks in New York since 1837.
If you're looking to watch some sharks, Discovery channel's 'Shark Week' kicks off on Sunday.
