A rally was held in Ossining Saturday to protect animals from abusive owners.
Rallygoers stood outside the Ossining Police Department in a stance against what they're calling inaction.
The rally stems from a dog named Luna that protesters say has remained tied up for long periods of time, including during the frigid cold, extreme heat and even a March nor'easter.
Participants say it is time for a new tether law and they’re calling on the village, mayor, chief of police and the SPCA to make a change.
In February, Mayor Victoria Gearity said she was opened to looking into stricter regulations. News 12 reached out to Gearity for comment and is still waiting to hear back.
At their last trustee meeting, Ossining Police Chief Kevin Sylvester said he has checked on Lunaevery day for the last two weeks and came across nothing troubling.
News 12 submitted Freedom of Information Law requests to Ossining for all complaints relating to Luna’s family, but has not yet heard back.
In the meantime, the Cat Squad Rescue and their 600 signatures of support are not resting until a new law passes.
